🕊️ Join us on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at 19:00 at PEO Hall (Pallados 4, Paphos) for a special event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The evening includes a screening of 1948: Creation and Catastrophe followed by an open discussion.
29 November 1947 marks the adoption of UN Resolution 181, the “Partition Plan,” which set the stage for the 1948 war and the Nakba, displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. The UN observes this day each year to highlight that the Palestinian people still seek their inalienable rights: self-determination, independence, and sovereignty.
The screening and discussion offer a space to reflect on these pivotal events and their lasting impact.

Η ημέρα τιμά την 29η Νοεμβρίου 1947, όταν η Γενική Συνέλευση του ΟΗΕ υιοθέτησε το Ψήφισμα 181, που οδήγησε στον πόλεμο του 1948 και τη Νάκμπα. Το ετήσιο αυτό ορόσημο υπενθυμίζει ότι τα αναφαίρετα δικαιώματα του Παλαιστινιακού λαού παραμένουν ανεκπλήρωτα.

يصادف 29 نوفمبر 1947 اعتماد قرار الأمم المتحدة رقم 181، المعروف بـ”خطة التقسيم”، التي مهّدت لاندلاع حرب 1948 والنكبة، وما رافقها من تهجير مئات الآلاف من الفلسطينيين. وتُحيي الأمم المتحدة هذا اليوم سنويًا للتأكيد على أن الشعب الفلسطيني لا يزال يطالب بحقوقه غير القابلة للتصرف: حق تقرير المصير، والاستقلال، والسيادة.
يوفّر هذا العرض والنقاش مساحة للتأمل في تلك الأحداث المحورية وآثارها المستمرة حتى اليوم.
